2) Prelude to Greatness

Prelude to Greatness

Today, here is an assignment. Pick a moment. Stop. And look around.

Do you know what you’ll see? You’ll see greatness.

Just take a moment and look. You’ll see it. If you want.

You’ll see people serving their community. You’ll see people working hard to provide for themselves and others. You’ll see people caring about one another.

Just look. You’ll see it.

Ignore what the news might tell you. Displace your notion of what you think greatness should be. Greatness can and should be following through with ordinary lives.

And by this definition, you have every opportunity to be great today. Get out there and work hard at whatever you do. See through your obligations with your family, friends and community.

And these actions will inspire others, because they’ve stopped to look for greatness too.

Today, is your opportunity … now, go be great.

310) Find Your Greatness

Find Your Greatness

As the final whistle blew in the 2012 Ohio Division II girls state championship soccer game, the St. Francis DeSales Stallions stormed the field with screams, cheers and a few moist eyes. The celebration was not in victory, however. No, the Stallions had just suffered the worst soccer loss in Ohio high school state championship history. Five to nothing.

Despite the loss, however, there was still much to celebrate. They’d had a great season. They’d built wonderful friendships. They’d made memories that would last a lifetime. And, they’d made it further than most every other team in the state.

Though they had suffered a disappointing loss, they collected themselves, pushed past the results of one game, and took stock of all that was wonderful with their season.

This is life. Sometimes, one thing might not pan out. Despite that, there are always things for which you can celebrate. Remember, whether you meet with victory or defeat, you’ve achieved something. Find your greatness.
